Saskatchewan Exporters Meet With South Korea Business Leaders To Talk Trade

Saskatchewan agri-exporters were talking business to South Korean importers during extensive meetings Monday in Seoul.

It’s part of a trade mission being led by Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall to South Korea and China.

Chris Dekker is the President and CEO of the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership.

He says there are plenty of opportunities for new agricultural trade, following last year’s free trade agreement that slashed South Korean import tariffs.

He says the agreement eliminated about 80 per-cent of the tariffs on Saskatchewan farm products.

Since the agreement, he says there has been a turnaround in exports to South Korea and sees great interest among Korean importers to buy from Saskatchewan.

On Wednesday, the business delegation will move on to Chengdou, China.
