Superior Livestock Hosts First Annual Big Sky Roundup - Sells 45,500 Head

Superior Livestock Auction hosted its first annual “Big Sky Roundup” in Billings, Montana broadcast live from the Big Horn Resort on Friday July 22nd. Cattle producers offered 45,500 head of calves, feeders and breeding stock from eighteen states. The auction kicked with a live broadcast of Superior Sunrise at 6:30am mountain time followed by the auction starting at 7am mountain time. “Big Sky Roundup” was broadcast live on Rural- TV channel 232 and was streamed on Superior Livestock Auction’s Click To Bid website. Despite the record heat effecting most of cattle country this week we saw comparable and active buying on both internet bidding and bid-lines revealing a good solid demand.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady even as the cash market remained under pressure. We saw yearling steers weighing less than 800 pounds $3-5 lower and yearling steers weighing 900+ pounds were $2-3 lower than our last offering. Weaned steer calves were $2-5 lower and weaned heifer calves were $2-3 lower than last week. Calves on cows were down $5-7.

Join Superior Livestock Auction our next auction “Video Royale” August 1, 3-5. Monday August 1st we will broadcast live from our Fort Worth studio before moving on to Winnemucca, Nevada for the remainder of the sale August 3-5.
