The August Meeting: A Chance to Shape the Future of Urban Agriculture

The Federal Advisory Committee for Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production will have a public meeting soon, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) cordially welcomes all stakeholders and urban producers to actively participate. Scheduled for August 1, 2023, this virtual meeting offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to urban agriculture initiatives.

With a focus on urban and innovative agriculture, the Committee serves as a platform for collaboration and feedback. The Committee, which is made up of representatives from a range of industries, including agriculture, education, industry, and non-profits, offers critical insights and counsel to support USDA's initiatives in novel production and urban agriculture.

The meeting agenda includes discussions on critical topics such as food waste prevention, surplus food recovery, and compostable food packaging standards. During the meeting, proposed recommendations will be deliberated upon and voted on, and public comments will be addressed.

To attend the virtual meeting, participants must register on the Committee's webpage by August 1, 2023. Comments can be submitted through the Federal eRulemaking Portal until August 15, 2023. Individuals may enhance urban agriculture and innovation production, building resilient and sustainable food systems in urban settings, by actively participating in this event.
