U.S. House Passes Precision Ag Bill to Enhance Efficiency for Farmers

The Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act, introduced by Ohio Republican Congressman Bob Latta, has been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill aims to improve the efficiency of farmers and ranchers by requiring the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to review its current satellite rules to ensure that farmers have access to the latest technological tools that help enhance productivity.

Congressman Latta emphasized the importance of technology in agriculture to improve productivity and reduce operating costs. The bipartisan bill is expected to receive approval in the Senate.

In addition to improving access to technology, the legislation would require the FCC to submit a report on the availability of broadband internet on croplands and ranchlands across the United States. The data collected through the report would help identify the areas that need additional infrastructure investment to improve connectivity and bring new technologies to the agriculture industry.

The Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act is a significant step towards improving the efficiency of Ohio farmers and ranchers, who rely on the latest technological advancements to improve productivity and reduce costs.
