AG CONNECT Expo -- Spotlight on Safety

Farm and ranch safety is the focus of a special exhibit pavilion at AG CONNECT Expo. The Safety Zone coordinated by Progressive Agriculture Safety Day® will be an interactive space with engaging yet informative educational demonstrations and activities. The latest safety education practices being developed by education groups, not-for-profit organizations, and other groups will be featured. At the Safety Zone, attendees will also have the opportunity to win Disney Park Hopper Passes, passes to Kennedy Space Center, tickets for laser tag at Wonder Works and additional prizes.

AG CONNECT Expo 2010 is the global gathering place for agriculture and will be held January 13-15, 2010 (Preview Day January 12 by special admission) at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Attendees will find the latest innovations, products, services and technologies in all agriculture sectors and will be able to network and discuss industry trends and issues with experts from around the world.

The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program provides local communities with training and resources to conduct one-day hands-on events that help teach children and parents how to stay safe on the farm, ranch and at home. An initiative of the Progressive Agriculture Foundation (PAF), each year the program reaches more than 80,000 children and adults across the U.S.

"The heart of our program is that many injuries and deaths can be prevented if even basic safety precautions are taken," stated Susan Reynolds, executive director-programs for PAF.

A tractor rollover prevention exhibit will be featured in the Safety Zone, from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Also exhibiting to date, in addition to the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program/Progressive Agriculture Foundation and Kentucky Department of Agriculture are the Agricultural Safety and Health Council of America, AgriSafe Network, National AgrAbility Project of Purdue University, National Education Center for Agricultural Safety, National Farm Medicine Center and National Institute for Farm Safety.

Activities in the safety zone include Tractor Rollover Demo, Protect Your Hearing, Protect Your Lungs, Chemical Look-a-Likes, Stay Safe on the Road, How's Your Reaction Time?, and Protecting America's Ag Workers.
