CN Rail reports steady grain shipments from Saskatchewan

CN Rail says grain shipments from Saskatchewan to ports at the West Coast and Thunder Bay were quite strong in December.

David Przednowek with CN Rail says bitterly cold weather had an impact on grain movement but last month was still the third best December ever.

“Interestingly, since the start of the crop year, CN unloads at Vancouver,” Przednowek said. “Customers use commercial car agreements to protect their car supply to Vancouver, and that shows in the numbers.”

Przednowek says grain shipments gained momentum in December after derailments in October set-back grain exports.
