Enlist Duo Herbicide Approved in Canada.

Enlist Duo™ Herbicide Approved for Use in Canada

Enlist Traits Previously Approved;

Both Components of Innovative Enlist System Now in Place for Canada

CALGARY – (May 16, 2013) –  Dow AgroSciences LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), announced today that Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has approved Enlist Duo™ herbicide with Colex-D™ Technology for use in Canada. This approval, which makes Canada the first nation to authorize this state-of-the art herbicide, is a milestone for the company’s Enlist™ Weed Control System which combines innovative traits, herbicides, and stewardship to deliver the weed control that farmers need now while sustaining beneficial farming practices.

Enlist Duo provides the exceptional weed control and peace of mind that Canadian farmers expect from their weed management tools, especially when dealing with hard-to-control and resistant weeds. What makes Enlist Duo™ unique is that it features near-zero volatility, minimized potential for drift, lower odour and better handling characteristics through a technology package called Colex-D™ Technology.  A comprehensive stewardship program has been developed and is designed to help farmers succeed while promoting responsible use of the Enlist System.

Growing farmer concern of hard to kill and resistant weeds in corn and soybeans in Canada supports the need for this technology,” said Jim Wispinski, President, Dow AgroSciences Canada Inc.  “The approval of the Enlist Weed Control System, including Enlist Duo herbicide in Canada, enables Dow AgroSciences to deliver on our promise to provide innovative solutions to our customers.  The commercialization plan includes a comprehensive stewardship initiative as part of our commitment to encourage sustainable and responsible use of Enlist Weed Control System.”

The Enlist corn and Enlist soybean traits were approved for food, feed, and environmental release by Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in October 2012. With the Enlist Duo herbicide registration by the PMRA, both components of the Enlist Weed Control System in corn and soybeans have been approved for use in Canada. Dow AgroSciences plans to ramp up seed production and its supply of Enlist Duo™ herbicide with Colex-D™ Technology to support the anticipated Enlist™ launch. Dow AgroSciences is working with regulatory agencies in key export geographies to advance commercialization of Enlist corn and soybeans in Canada.

Spring weed control in winter wheat with Broadway® Star (pyroxsulam + florasulam)

Video: Spring weed control in winter wheat with Broadway® Star (pyroxsulam + florasulam)

#CortevaTalks brings you a short update with Cereal Herbicides Category Manager, Alister McRobbie, on how to get the most out of Broadway® Star.

Significant populations of grassweeds, including ryegrass and brome, can threaten winter wheat yields. Spring applications of a contact graminicide, such as Broadway Star from Corteva Agriscience, can clear problem weeds, allowing crops to grow away in the spring.

Broadway Star (pyroxsulam + florasulam) controls ryegrass, sterile brome, wild oats and a range of broad-leaved weeds such as cleavers. It can be applied to winter wheat up until GS32, but the earlier the application is made, the smaller the weed, and the greater the benefit to the crop. Weeds should be actively growing. A good rule of thumb is that if your grass needs cutting, conditions are right to apply Broadway Star.
