Juniors in Agriculture are the Future!

The Junior Beef EXPO is an extra-special agricultural event, because it promotes youth involvement in the business of raising cattle.

Young people 21 years of age and under, and their families, will arrive in the District at the end of March Break for the 15th annual Junior Beef Expo, March 19 & 20. These young agricultural entrepreneurs will showcase hand-reared heifers and steers in a livestock judging contest over a 2-day period. Participants, from as far East as the Ottawa Valley and many from counties across Ontario, showcase cattle with some eventually becoming local farmers working within the beef industry.

Youth participation in the expo climbs annually.  Over 175 kids and 275 head of cattle will take part in the 2016 event.  The experience is open to competitors 21 years of age and under as of January 1, 2016 and is a great opportunity for kids and young adults, to win scholarship prize money ($500 & $1,000) in the Steer and Heifer confirmation categories.

The Junior Beef Expo at Western Fair District strives to support all 4-H members and Junior Livestock enthusiasts by offering more activities for youth to participate in.  The event keeps young people interested and active in the agriculture industry and that’s important for all.

The Western Fair District is an Agricultural Society that, through its people, activities and facilities, excels in creating unique experiences that fulfil the evolving entertainment /recreational and educational interests of our customers.  As a progressive Agricultural Society the Western Fair District supports the on-going development of the agricultural industry and promotes its value to the urban community.
