USDA Export Sales Report

Wheat:  Net sales of 550,300 metric tons for delivery in marketing year 2015/2016 were up 54 percent from the previous week and 86 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for South Korea (96,500 MT), the Philippines (91,600 MT, including 35,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Thailand (75,800 MT), Mexico (59,200 MT), unknown destinations (43,700 MT), and Nigeria (41,000 MT).  Reductions were reported for the French West Indies (7,500 MT).  Exports of 320,200 MT were up 51 percent from the previous week, but down 26 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were South Korea (53,300 MT), the Philippines (46,600 MT), Mexico (37,800 MT), Guatemala (28,200 MT), and Japan (24,000 MT).

Exports for Own Account:  The current exports for own account outstanding balance is 48,600 MT, all Italy.

Corn:  Net sales of 708,800 MT for 2015/2016 were up noticeably from the previous week and 34 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases reported for Mexico (300,000 MT), Colombia (160,900 MT, including 52,500 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,600 MT), Peru (104,700 MT, including 55,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), unknown destinations (81,700 MT), and Jamaica (22,000 MT), were partially offset by reductions for Japan (18,300 MT).  Exports of 433,300 MT were up 6 percent from the previous week, but down 25 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (139,400 MT), Colombia (124,600 MT), Peru (60,600 MT), Japan (52,700 MT), Guatemala (22,100 MT), and Canada (18,000 MT).

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2015/2016, outstanding optional origin sales total 450,000 MT, all unknown destinations. 

Barley:  Net sales of 700 MT for 2015/2016 were up noticeably from the previous week and the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported primarily for Taiwan (500 MT) and South Korea (100 MT).  Exports of 400 MT were reported to South Korea.

Sorghum: Net sales of 144,100 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and the prior 4-week average.  Increases reported for China (111,100 MT, including 112,000 MT switch from unknown destinations and decreases of 8,000 MT) and Mexico (88,000 MT), were partially offset by reductions for unknown destinations (54,000 MT) and Haiti (1,000 MT).  Exports of 162,400 MT were down 38 percent from the previous week and 44 percent from prior 4-week average.  The destinations were China (160,400 MT) and Mexico (2,000 MT).

Rice:  Net sales of 112,600 MT--a marketing-year high--for 2015/2016 were up 68 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Costa Rica (22,400 MT), Mexico (20,900 MT), Honduras (16,000 MT), Haiti (13,500 MT), and Japan (12,400 MT).  Exports of 78,300 MT, up 29 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average, were reported to Iran (32,000 MT), Haiti (18,500 MT), Japan (13,000 MT), Mexico (3,500 MT), and Canada (2,700 MT). 

Exports for Own Account:  New exports for own account totaling 100 MT were reported to Canada.  Exports for own account totaling 100 MT to Canada were applied to new or outstanding sales.  The current outstanding balance is 300 MT, all Canada.

Soybeans:  Net sales of 2,087,400 MT for 2015/2016 were up 8 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for China (1,410,700 MT, including 673,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 135,600 MT), Germany (190,500 MT), Mexico (146,100 MT), the Netherlands (109,500 MT, including 112,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 3,100 MT), Saudi Arabia (72,600 MT, including 66,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Vietnam (65,800 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from unknown destinations).  Reductions were reported for unknown destinations (259,000 MT) and Switzerland (50,000 MT).  Net sales of 68,600 MT for 2016/2017 were reported for unknown destinations (43,000 MT) and Japan (25,600 MT).  Exports of 2,806,100 MT--a marketing-year high--were up 25 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (1,739,600 MT), Germany (190,500 MT), the Netherlands (109,500 MT), Mexico (104,700 MT), and Saudi Arabia (72,600 MT).

Optional Origin Sales:  For 2015/2016, new optional origin sales were reported for China (60,000 MT) and Pakistan (60,000 MT).  Outstanding optional origin sales total 295,000 MT, and are for China (235,000 MT) and Pakistan (60,000 MT).

Exports for Own Account:  New exports for own account totaling 47,400 MT were reported to Canada.  The current outstanding balance is 80,100 MT, all Canada.

Export Adjustments:  Accumulated exports to the Netherlands were adjusted down 47,850 MT for week ending September 24th, 49,749 MT for week ending October 1st, and 92,947 MT for week ending October 15th.  The correct destination is Germany and is included in this week’s report. 

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales of 218,700 MT for 2015/2016 were down 17 percent from the previous week.  Increases were reported for Japan (51,600 MT), Mexico (36,300 MT), Portugal (26,200 MT, including 12,500 MT switched from Spain), Venezuela (20,400 MT, including 20,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Egypt (17,000 MT), and Canada (15,400 MT).  Reductions were reported for unknown destinations (20,600 MT) and Spain (7,500 MT).  Exports of 329,300 MT were primarily to Mexico (67,100 MT), the Philippines (47,600 MT), Thailand (47,500 MT), the Dominican Republic (32,500 MT), and Portugal (26,200 MT). 

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 82,100 MT for 2015/2016 were up noticeably from the previous week.  Increases were reported for unknown destinations (40,000 MT), China (20,000 MT), Peru (9,000 MT), Mexico (4,200 MT), and Jamaica (3,500 MT).  Exports of 15,200 MT were primarily to Mexico (7,300 MT), Nicaragua (4,200 MT), and the Dominican Republic (3,500 MT).

Cotton:   Net upland sales totaling 76,100 RB for 2015/2016 were down 22 percent from the previous week and 38 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Mexico (12,100 RB), Pakistan (11,900 RB), Vietnam (10,900 RB, including 300 RB switched from Japan), Taiwan (7,900 RB), and South Korea (6,500 RB, including 600 RB switched Thailand, 200 RB switched from Indonesia, 100 RB switched from Japan, and decreases of 200 RB).  Reductions were reported for Honduras (700 RB) and unknown destinations (300 RB).  Net sales of 6,000 MT for 2016/2017 were reported for Mexico.  Exports of 67,400 RB were up 10 percent from the previous week, but down 17 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (22,700 RB), Vietnam (13,600 RB), Indonesia (7,400 RB), China (4,700 RB), and Peru (4,400 RB).  Net sales of Pima totaling 3,000 RB for 2015/2016 were down 58 percent from the previous week and 34 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Japan (500 RB), China (500 RB), Bangladesh (500 RB), and India (500 RB).  Exports of 7,100 RB were up 68 percent from the previous week and 29 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (5,000 RB), Pakistan (900 RB), India (600 RB), and Japan (400 RB). 

Exports for Own Account:  New exports for own account totaling 400 RB were reported to Vietnam.  Exports for own account totaling 9,500 RB to Vietnam were applied to new or outstanding sales.  The current outstanding balance is 52,200 RB, and is for China (45,900 RB) and Vietnam (6,300 RB).

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 545,500 pieces for 2015, all whole cattle hides, were up 30 percent from the previous week and 47 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (399,700 pieces), South Korea (73,000 pieces), Taiwan (16,300 pieces), Mexico (16,000 pieces), and Hong Kong (13,500 pieces).  Exports of 430,100 pieces were up 16 percent from the previous week and 15 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 426,600 pieces were primarily to China (259,800 pieces), South Korea (83,800 pieces), Mexico (36,100 pieces), Thailand (11,500 pieces), and Vietnam (8,100 pieces). 

Net sales of 286,500 wet blues for 2015 were up noticeably from the previous week, but down noticeably and from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for China (83,000 unsplit and 23,600 grain splits), Italy (101,000 unsplit), Vietnam (40,900 unsplit), Taiwan (16,700 unsplit), and Thailand (14,500 unsplit).  Reductions were reported for the Dominican Republic (800 unsplit).  For 2016, net sales reductions of 53,600 wet blues resulted as increases for Hong Kong (4,500 grain splits) and the Dominican Republic (800 unsplit), were more than offset by reductions for China (26,300 grain splits), Italy (17,000 unsplit), Taiwan (12,200 unsplit), Bangladesh (2,600 grain splits), and Mexico (800 unsplit).  Exports of 142,500 wet blues were up 8 percent from the previous week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (37,500 unsplit and 14,500 grain splits), Italy (16,600 unsplit and 7,200 grain splits), Mexico (15,900 grain splits and 3,700 unsplit), and Vietnam (21,100 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totaling 255,700 pounds for 2015 were for Vietnam (140,000 pounds), Taiwan (100,000 pounds), and South Korea (15,700 pounds).  For 2016, net sales of 142,900 pounds were for Vietnam (99,300 pounds) and China (43,600 pounds).  Exports of 1,291,100 pounds were down 38 percent from the previous week, but up 9 percent and from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Vietnam (1,186,100 pounds), Taiwan (100,000 pounds), and South Korea (5,000 pounds).

Beef:  Net sales of 400 MT for 2015--a marketing-year low--resulted as increases for South Korea (2,500 MT), Canada (1,400 MT), Egypt (1,100 MT), Mexico (1,000 MT), and the Netherlands (200 MT), were more than offset by reductions for Hong Kong (3,000 MT), Japan (2,400 MT), and Senegal (1,100 MT).  Net sales of 8,500 MT for 2016 were reported primarily for Hong Kong (4,600 MT), Japan (3,100 MT), Canada (300 MT), Taiwan (200 MT), and South Korea (200 MT).  Exports of 12,300 MT were unchanged from the previous week, but up 6 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (3,000 MT), Hong Kong (2,600 MT), South Korea (2,400 MT), Mexico (1,600 MT), and Canada (1,000 MT).

Pork:  Net sales of 18,300 MT for 2015 were up noticeably from the previous week, but unchanged from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Mexico (6,600 MT), South Korea (4,800 MT), Japan (4,200 MT), Canada (900 MT), and China (500 MT).  Net sales of 1,700 MT for 2016 were reported for Japan.  Exports of 19,700 MT were up 12 percent from the previous week and 13 percent the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (6,200 MT), Japan (3,700 MT), China (3,000 MT), South Korea (1,800 MT), and Canada (1,400 MT).
