USDA : Weekly Export Sales Highlights

Wheat:  Net sales of 241,900 metric tons were down 34 percent from the previous week.  Increases were reported for Mexico (56,500 MT), Nigeria (41,000 MT), the Philippines (32,500 MT), Ecuador (32,000 MT, including 20,000 MT switched from Colombia and 10,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Israel (29,000 MT), Italy (19,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), and Canada (15,800 MT).  Decreases were reported for Colombia (16,100 MT).  Exports of 366,700 MT were up 13 percent from the previous week.  The primary destinations were Yemen (55,000 MT), South Korea (48,400 MT), Nigeria (39,000 MT), Indonesia (33,000 MT), Ecuador (32,000 MT), and Colombia (29,100 MT). 

Corn:  Net sales of 1,155,100 MT were up 68 percent from the previous week and 67 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases reported for Japan (369,600 MT, including 71,700 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 5,900 MT), South Korea (279,800 MT, including 117,900 MT switched from unknown destinations), Egypt (240,000 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from Syria), Taiwan (127,900 MT, including 58,000 MT switched from Japan and 57,900 MT switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (88,700 MT), Canada (36,400 MT), and Colombia (35,300 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (67,500 MT) and Guatemala (27,800 MT).  Optional origin sales of 8,500 MT were for Colombia.  Net sales of 117,000 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were reported for South Korea (58,000 MT), Mexico (55,600 MT), Panama (7,600 MT), Taiwan (2,000 MT), and Barbados (1,000 MT).  Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (7,200 MT).  Exports of 742,500 MT were down 29 percent from the previous week and 11 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (244,800 MT), Taiwan (130,400 MT), Mexico (101,900 MT), South Korea (59,900 MT), Egypt (42,600 MT), the Dominican Republic (28,400 MT), and Syria (25,600 MT).  

Barley:  There were no sales reported during the week.  Exports of 100 MT were reported to Mexico.

Sorghum:  Net sales of 122,600 MT--a marketing-year high--were for Mexico (119,600 MT) and unknown destinations (3,000 MT).  Exports of 44,700 MT were to Mexico.  

Rice:  Net sales of 90,800 MT were up 16 percent from the previous week and 53 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Haiti (33,600 MT), Mexico (16,500 MT), Honduras (11,300 MT), Costa Rica (8,700 MT), the Dominican Republic (5,700 MT), and Canada (4,300 MT).  Decreases were reported for Lebanon (100 MT).  Exports of 139,200 MT--a marketing-year high--were up 67 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Iraq (61,900 MT), Haiti (27,400 MT), Mexico (22,100 MT), El Salvador (4,200 MT), and Canada (3,600 MT).

Soybeans:  Net sales of 193,500 MT were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average.   Increases reported for China (68,600 MT, including 58,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Japan (67,100 MT, including 27,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Taiwan (58,700 MT), Mexico (43,600 MT), and Canada (29,100 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (85,000 MT) and Syria (10,300 MT).  Net sales of 250,100 MT for 2009/10 delivery were for unknown destinations (125,000 MT), China (120,000 MT), Guatemala (4,100 MT), and Barbados (1,000 MT).  Exports of 387,100 MT were up 2 percent from the previous week and 15 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (188,600 MT), Japan (46,200 MT), Mexico (39,600 MT), Turkey (37,200 MT), and Canada (19,900 MT). 

Soybean Cake and Meal:  Net sales reductions of 23,000 MT resulted as increases for Spain (29,900 MT, including 28,800 MT switch from unknown destinations), Morocco (16,500 MT, including 15,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Lebanon (15,200 MT, switched from Egypt), Honduras (12,000 MT), and Canada (8,300 MT), were more than offset by decreases for unknown destinations (78,800 MT), Egypt (18,100 MT), Mexico (15,400 MT), Japan (9,200 MT), and Guatemala (3,500 MT).  Net sales of 303,800 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were for unknown destinations (220,000 MT), Canada (68,600 MT), Jamaica (16,800 MT), and Panama (1,900 MT).  Decreases were reported for Saudi Arabia (3,500 MT).  Exports of 215,600 MT were up 33 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Turkey (52,500 MT), Mexico (31,900 MT), Spain (29,900 MT), Canada (20,500 MT), Morocco (16,500 MT), and Lebanon (15,200 MT). 

Soybean Oil:  Net sales of 69,400 MT--a marketing-year high--were mainly for unknown destinations (64,000 MT) and Jamaica (3,200 MT).  Net sales of 1,200 MT for 2009/10 delivery were for Mexico.  Exports of 2,400 MT were down 57 percent from the previous week and 78 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (1,500 MT) and Canada (800 MT). 

Cotton:  Net Upland sales of 156,200 running bales were down 1 percent from the previous week, but up10 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for China (66,700 RB), Turkey (53,400 RB), Taiwan (11,900 RB), Mexico (7,200 RB), Indonesia (6,600 RB, including 4,600 RB switched from unknown destinations), Singapore (5,900 RB), Thailand (5,000 RB), and Vietnam (4,900 RB).  Decreases were reported for Nicaragua (6,400 RB), Pakistan (2,200 RB), and Malaysia (1,100 RB).  Net sales of 82,500 RB for delivery in 2009/10 were mainly for Turkey (23,700 RB), Vietnam (10,900 RB), Thailand (10,500 RB), and China (9,900 RB).  Exports of 333,600 RB were up 21 percent from the previous week and 6 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (71,300 RB), Turkey (54,200 RB), Mexico (44,600 RB), Pakistan (32,000 RB), Indonesia (25,400 RB), Vietnam (20,100 RB), India (16,600 RB), and Thailand (11,100 RB).  Net American Pima sales of 7,700 RB were up 35 percent from the previous week, but down 10 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were mainly for Hong Kong (2,000 RB), Japan (1,400 RB), South Korea (1,000 RB), and China (900 RB).  Net sales of 3,300 RB for delivery in 2009/10 were reported for South Korea (2,300 RB) and India (1,000 RB).  Exports of 12,500 RB--a marketing-year high--were mainly to Pakistan (4,900 RB), China (3,100 RB), and Hong Kong (2,300 RB).

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 453,700 pieces were down 26 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 451,800 pieces were primarily for China (281,700 pieces), South Korea (105,200 pieces), Mexico (25,300 pieces), Vietnam (20,800 pieces), and Japan (12,700 pieces). Exports of 505,700 pieces were down 28 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 501,600 pieces were primarily to China (253,100 pieces), South Korea (129,800 pieces), Thailand (27,800 pieces), Mexico (24,300 pieces), Hong Kong (17,400 pieces), and Taiwan (15,800 pieces).

Net sales of 17,800 wet blues were down 75 percent from the previous week and 72 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (27,200 grain splits), China (5,700 grain splits), Taiwan (4,700 unsplit), and Vietnam (3,300 unsplit).  Decreases were reported for the Dominican Republic (12,000 unsplit) and China (10,800 unsplit).  Exports of 76,400 hides were down 27 percent from the previous week and 46 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (31,100 unsplit), Mexico (25,000 grain splits and 5,800 unsplit), Taiwan (4,300 unsplit), and Italy (4,200 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 1,001,300 pounds resulted as increases for China (514,000 pounds), South Korea (270,000 pounds), Vietnam (219,900 pounds), and Hong Kong (43,000 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for Taiwan (44,000 pounds) and Mexico (1,600 pounds). Exports of 350,300 pounds were up 34 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Vietnam (219,900 pounds), South Korea (45,000 pounds), Hong Kong (43,000 pounds), and Mexico (42,400 pounds).

Beef:  Net sales of 8,100 MT were primarily for Mexico (3,000 MT), Hong Kong (1,200 MT), Japan (1,000 MT), and Canada (800 MT).  Exports of 9,800 MT were mainly to Mexico (3,700 MT), Japan (1,900 MT), Canada (1,300 MT), and Taiwan (800 MT).
