Ginty Jocius, 1946 – 2008
Agriculture Entrepreneur, Friend and Supporter of Farms.com Passes Away.

Ginty Jocius lost his two year battle with brain cancer on January 2, 2008, he passed away at home surrounded by his family.

Ginty was an innovative agriculture business leader who had a great track record of starting new business ideas and growing them into leading products and services. In 1982, he established his own marketing and communications firm, Ginty Jocius & Associates. In 1994, he created Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show which has become the largest outdoor agricultural tradeshow in Canada. (www.outdoorfarmshow.com) Ginty was involved in the start up phase of what has become Farms.com in the early days of the agri internet.

Ginty’s family immigrated to Canada from Lithuanian via post war Germany in 1949 and started farming in Rodney, Ontario. He was a graduate of the Ontario Agriculture College at the University of Guelph. Ginty married Lori in 1970 and they have three children, Daiva, Gavin and Jordan.

Ginty will be missed by the agriculture community but he has left a substantial legacy for which he will be remembered for a long time. More information on Ginty can be found on the www.outdoorfarmshow.com website.
