In the Marvel Comics universe, Mark Raxton was a scientist with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering.
After an incident involving a new liquid metallic alloy, he assumed the name Molten Man. His skin is able to generate intense heat and he's able to shoot flaming projectiles at his enemies.
It's pretty clear why no farmer would want to see Molten Man making his way towards their fields, barn, livestock or any other flammable object.
