Ag Trade Considerations

On Jan. 16, 1886, Prime Minister Mackenzie Bowell’s governor general, John Hamilton-Gordon (pictured above), opened the sixth session of the country’s seventh Parliament with a throne speech.

In his address, Hamilton-Gordon told lawmakers they would be asked to consider ways to increase ag trade with the United Kingdom and other countries.
