Roman Emperor Augustus (pictured) created an Asparagus Fleet whose job was to sail in search of asparagus to bring it back to Rome.
King Louis XIV of France declared asparagus to be the King of Vegetables and it’s believed Egyptian Queen Nefertiti called asparagus the food of the gods.
