Welshman Reverend Griffith Hughes, who wrote The Natural History of Barbados, wrote the first description of the grapefruit in Barbados in 1750.
He called the grapefruit the “forbidden fruit” because people found it while searching for the original tree of good and evil in the Garden of Eden.
