The United Kingdom hasn’t officially separated from the European Union yet but a trade agreement with the U.S. may already face roadblocks.
In the U.S., chicken processors can wash chicken in chlorine and other chemicals to kill bacteria. The EU doesn’t allow this, but the UK could make its own decisions once separated from the union.
But, in January 2020, the UK confirmed it would hold its position on chicken processing if the two sides start trade negotiations.
