Three Pieces in the Shape of a Pear

French composer Erik Satie (1866-1925) created the suite of music in 1903 to poke fun at the serious nature of musical composition.

Satie wrote the suite to mock fellow French composer Claude Debussy, who claimed Satie’s work lacked form, one story says. So, in response, Satie wrote music in the shape of a pear that has different slices.
