Farmingdale, New York is located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County. The first European settler was Thomas Powell in 1687 and the 2010 census recorded its population at 8,189. Residents of Farmingdale have included Ed Kranepool who spent his entire baseball career with the New York Mets, and Peter J. Ganci, Jr., Chief of Department of the FDNY who died during the terrorist attacks on September 11.
