8 U.S. Presidents with Ag Connections

Theodore Roosevelt

Theodore Roosevelt

The 26th President discovered an interest in cattle farming during a bison hunt in Dakota Territory (now North and South Dakota) in 1883.

He invested $14,000 into the farm before returning to New York and leaving two business partners to run it.

While the farm was ultimately a failure, Roosevelt viewed the experience as proof he could work and live a frontier lifestyle.
