At least 80 cattle are dead and three barns are destroyed after a fire broke out at a barn near Nepean, Ont., this afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the fire on Prince of Wales Drive around 1:00 p.m.

About 12 cattle, who weren’t in the barns at the time of the fire, survived.

“This is devastating for the family,” Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson Danielle Cardinal told CBC on Friday, adding the family is looking for help to house the survived cattle.

The fire is out but emergency crews remain on scene.

People have posted photos of the fire on social media.
