Antonio Segni became Italy’s first minister of agriculture on July 14, 1946. He held the position until July 16, 1951.
As minister, he focused on the growth of domestic ag following the Second World War.
One idea he proposed was to expropriate land from larger landowners and distribute it to farm workers, making them small entrepreneurs.
