Saskatchewan’s agriculture industry could be front and centre on a new logo for the province’s Canadian Football League team.

On July 14, the Saskatchewan Roughriders filed a trademark with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada for a new logo.

The logo, which appears in black and white on the trademark application, features the team’s name surrounding an “S” with wheat running through the middle.

The current logo has the stalks of wheat on either side of the “S”.

The Roughriders have used four logos in its history and each one has featured wheat in some capacity.

The new trademark “has not yet been assigned to an examiner,” the application says.

If approved, the logo could be seen on multiple pieces of Roughriders gear.

This includes jewelry, cowbells, napkins, pennants and clothing.

Agriculture is already part of the Saskatchewan Roughriders experience.

Mosaic Stadium, the team’s home field, is named after the fertilizer company.

And Viterra, AGT Foods, Young’s Equipment and Brandt are listed as founding partners on the team’s website.

Farms.com has contacted the Roughriders organization for comment on the new logo.
