New campaign invites farming families to share stories for Americas 250th anniversary
AGCO has launched a nationwide campaign called Legacies of the Land to honor farming families across the United States. The initiative celebrates the country’s 250th anniversary by recognizing the important role that farmers have played in shaping the nation and feeding its people.
The campaign encourages farmers to share their personal stories through photos, videos, and written experiences. These contributions can be shared using the hashtag LandLegacies and will be featured on an interactive online story wall. The goal is to create a meaningful collection that reflects the history and future of American agriculture.
The campaign is guided by the idea that every farming story is part of national history. By sharing these stories, farming families can preserve their legacy for future generations and show the value of their work to a wider audience.
AGCO has introduced the campaign by highlighting three multi-generational farms. These include Lehenbauer Farms in Missouri, Matthews Land and Cattle in Idaho, and Riney Dairy in Kentucky. Each represents a long tradition of farming and dedication to land stewardship.
"I hope that 100 or 200 years from now, somebody can sit here and share how we helped leave the world in a better place," said Mark Lehenbauer, whose family has farmed in Missouri for generations.
"Every farming family has a story worth telling, rooted in resilience, stewardship and love for the land," said Eric Hansotia, AGCO's Chairman, President & CEO. "Legacies of the Land gives farmers a way to share their experiences and helps preserve them for this generation and the ones that follow. We are proud to help honor these families and recognize their place in America's history."
John Riney, a tenth-generation farmer, shared how learning about his family history helped him understand the value of their farming legacy.
Communities are invited to participate and contribute throughout the summer.
