Bunge’s World Food Day initiative connects employees, local partners and communities to expand access to nutritious food and support long-term food security.
Bunge Global SA is celebrating five years of its World Food Day Global Volunteer Program. Throughout October, employees will work with approximately 112 local partners across more than 145 communities in 24 countries to improve food access and support the communities where they live and work.
This year's World Food Day theme, “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow.” emphasizes the importance of innovative solutions, traditional knowledge, and inclusive approaches to expanding access to safe, nutritious, and diverse food while protecting the environment for future generations.
Bunge's volunteer activities include sorting and packing food, preparing meals, organizing food drives, and donating supplies to local organizations. These efforts are designed to address community needs while strengthening local partnerships and promoting food security.
“World Food Day reminds us that global food security is a shared challenge, and that progress begins with practical ideas shaped by local needs,” said Gabriella Herzog, Global Social Impact Director at Bunge.
“Guided by our ‘We Do What’s Right’ value, our colleagues are marking the fifth year of this program by working with local partners to help families access food and strengthen connections between farmers and communities. Together, we are helping build more resilient food systems where we live and work.”
Since the program began in 2022, Bunge has facilitated more than 500 volunteer activities worldwide. Several initiatives have developed into long-term partnerships, creating continued benefits for communities where the company operates.
World Food Day is observed annually on October 16 and was established by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization to raise awareness and encourage action on global food security.
For Bunge, the annual initiative provides an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with local organizations, support families experiencing food insecurity, and promote sustainability throughout the food value chain. By combining employee participation with community-led efforts, the company aims to contribute to stronger food systems and lasting local impact.
