Don Boudria and Dr Arman Panah awarded for leadership and policy impact
The Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI) recognized outstanding leaders in the nation’s animal health sector during its 2026 annual awards event. The awards highlighted individuals who have made meaningful contributions to improving animal health, strengthening policy, and supporting collaboration across the industry.
The Industry Leadership Award was presented to Don Boudria, a former senior cabinet minister and long serving Member of Parliament. He was honoured for his strong commitment to supporting animal health policy and representing the interests of the sector at the national level.
Since beginning his work with the institute in 2021, he has played an important role in raising awareness of industry priorities among policymakers. His efforts have contributed to strengthening animal health systems, public health protection, and food security across Canada.
“Don Boudria has been an extraordinary champion for Canada’s animal health sector,” said Dr. Catherine Filejski, President and CEO of CAHI. “His deep understanding of government, passion to build relationships across political lines, and commitment to evidence-based policy have helped advance critical animal health issues in Canada.”
Leadership at the institute noted that his experience in government and ability to build relationships across political groups helped advance key policy discussions. His work has supported evidence-based decision making and promoted the importance of animal health within national policy conversations.
He received the award during a special gala event attended by political leaders, industry members, and stakeholders. The event is part of an initiative designed to raise awareness of animal health and its importance to society.
In addition to this recognition, the Chair’s Award was presented to Dr. Arman Panah for his leadership within the sector. As Chair of the Drug Committee and a regulatory affairs leader at a global animal health company, he has led efforts focused on improving regulatory systems and encouraging collaboration between industry and government groups.
