Interactive Exhibits Dairy Treats and Butter Sculptures Delight Families

The Ohio State Fair is celebrating America’s 250th birthday with a special showcase that highlights dairy farming, agricultural innovation, and community involvement.

One of the fair’s most popular attractions is the famous Butter Cow Display. Located in the newly renovated Dairy Building, the exhibit combines tradition with patriotism.

Visitors can explore a variety of attractions designed to recognize the contributions of farmers and dairy producers.

Along with the butter cow and calf, visitors can see detailed sculptures of a bald eagle, the Statue of Liberty, American and Ohio flags, and an America 250 sign. The artwork was created from 2,100 pounds of butter donated by Dairy Farmers of America.

The celebration also includes the 2026 Ohio State Fair Cheese Contest. Coordinated by the American Dairy Association Mideast and hosted at Miceli Dairy Products in Cleveland, the contest recognizes outstanding dairy craftsmanship.

Pearl Valley Cheese of Fresno was named Grand Champion for its Swiss cheese, while Urban Stead Cheese of Cincinnati earned the Reserve Champion award for its Nati Gouda. These winners represent the quality and dedication found within Ohio’s dairy sector.

The Grand Champion cheese will later be auctioned at the Ohio State Fair Sale of Champions, helping support junior fair dairy exhibitors.

Dairy lovers can enjoy a wide selection of products at the Dairy Building and the Dairy Counter in the Taste of Ohio Cafe. Visitors can choose from hand-dipped ice cream, milkshakes, and several other dairy-based treats.

One special attraction is "Star Spangled Swirl," created by Velvet Ice Cream exclusively for the Ohio State Fair. The flavor combines cherry, lime, and blue raspberry, bringing a fun and colorful twist to the fair experience.

The Ohio Agriculture Center also features the new ImAGine Ag exhibit. Supported by agricultural organizations, including the Ohio Farm Bureau and the American Dairy Association Mideast, the exhibit provides interactive learning opportunities related to farming, food production, technology, animal care, and innovation.

With educational exhibits, award-winning dairy products, and family-friendly attractions, the Ohio State Fair offers an engaging way to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary while showcasing the value of agriculture and dairy farming.
