Farmers who did business with this company should contact the Safeguards for Grain Farmers Program

The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) has revoked a grain dealer’s license.

As of July 10, the CGC rescinded Grasslands Brokerage & Consulting Ltd.’s grain dealer license.

This type of license is for “a person who, for reward, on his own behalf or the behalf of another person, deals in or handles western grain,” the CGC says.

The company headquartered in Regina, Sask., specializes in “top-quality organic and conventional agricultural commodities and functional food ingredients,” its website says.

Grasslands received its grain dealer license on March 1, 2025.

That April the company announced its acquisition of Prairie Berries.

The company’s most recent social media post came on July 8, 2026, celebrating Saskatchewan lentils.

“Large green lentils are grown around the world, but a significant portion of the global supply originates right here in Saskatchewan,” the Facebook post says. “Canada is the world's leading exporter of lentils, and Saskatchewan accounts for approximately 86% to 95% of Canadian lentil production.”

The CGC is encouraging farmers who conducted business with this company before July 10, 2026, to contact its Safeguards for Grain Farmers Program.

This program protects farmers from non-payment if a company or elevator enters insolvency.

Farmers who did business with Grasslands on or after July 10 will not be protected.
