Strategic deal strengthens animal nutrition innovation and growth across North America

Devenish Nutrition North America has announced the acquisition of Nutribins, marking an important step in strengthening its presence across the poultry and livestock sectors in North America. The strategic move adds new expertise, innovative nutritional solutions, and future-ready technologies to Devenish’s growing portfolio. 

The acquisition brings together two companies that share a strong focus on science-based innovation, sustainability, and customer success. Nutribins, founded in California by experienced animal nutritionists, has built a solid reputation for developing practical and research-driven feed ingredients. Its solutions are designed to improve animal performance while supporting environmental and economic sustainability for producers. 

By integrating Nutribins into its North American operations, Devenish aims to expand its capabilities in feed additives and value-added nutritional technologies. This combination is expected to accelerate the introduction of new products that help address emerging challenges in modern poultry and livestock production, including efficiency, animal health, and responsible resource use. 

Devenish Nutrition, established in 1998, operates multiple production and research facilities across the United States and Mexico. The company is supported by a skilled technical team, including many PhD-level experts, and is widely recognized for its commitment to research excellence and customer-focused solutions. The addition of Nutribins further strengthens this foundation by bringing complementary research and development strengths.

Dan Weary is a Professor at the University of British Columbia. Dan did his BSc and MSc at McGill and Doctorate at Oxford before co-founding UBC’s Animal Welfare Program where he now co-directs this active research group. His research focuses on understanding the perspectives of animals and applying these insights to develop methods of assessing animal welfare and improving the lives of animals. His work has helped drive changes in practices (including the adoption of higher milk rations for calves and pain management for disbudding) and housing methods (including the adoption of social housing for pre-weaned calves). He also studies cow comfort and lameness, social interactions among cows, and interactions between cows, human handlers and technologies like automated millking systems that are increasingly used on farms. His presentation will outline key questions in cattle welfare, highlight recent UBC research addressing them, and showcase innovative methods for improving the lives of cattle and their caretakers.
