NGFA Applauds Nomination for Chief Agriculture Negotiator Role

The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) has congratulated Dr. Julie Callahan on her nomination as the new Chief Agriculture Negotiator for the United States. Dr. Callahan has served nearly a decade at the U.S. Trade Representative’s office, playing a key role in shaping agricultural trade policies.

Mike Seyfert, President and CEO of NGFA, praised her nomination, highlighting her strong experience and dedication to agriculture and international trade. He expressed confidence that Dr. Callahan will help strengthen U.S. agricultural exports and maintain positive relationships with global trade partners.

As Chief Agriculture Negotiator, Dr. Callahan would lead negotiations on international agricultural trade agreements. Her role is critical in ensuring fair market access for U.S. farmers and ranchers. She is expected to represent the interests of America’s agriculture sector in major trade discussions around the world.

Her nomination has now been sent to the Senate Finance Committee, where it will be reviewed before moving forward. If approved, Dr. Callahan will take on a leadership role that supports U.S. food producers by working to remove trade barriers and expand export opportunities.

This nomination comes at a time when agriculture remains a key part of U.S. trade policy. The need for strong trade representation is essential to help farmers reach new markets and grow the economy.

Dr. Callahan’s background with USTR and her commitment to fair trade practices position her as a strong leader in this role. Her work will impact farmers, exporters, and agribusinesses across the nation.

The NGFA’s support reflects the agriculture industry’s trust in her ability to represent their concerns on a global stage. Many in the sector hope for a quick confirmation to move forward with important trade talks.
