Culver’s donated $1 per every rental or purchase of “Green and Gold”
The success of a movie about a Wisconsin farmer betting it all on his beloved Green Bay Packers has resulted in three ag organizations splitting a $100,000 donation.
Fast food chain Culver’s, through its Thank You Farmers Project, committed to donating $1 for every rental or digital purchase of Green and Gold.
“It’s such an honor for us to give back to our guests,” Alison Demmer, Culver’s senior public relations manager, told Farms.com. “When the business started in Prairie Du Sac, Wis., in 1984, farmers were our friends and neighbors. When the Green and Gold team came to us and talked about the film, it naturally sounded like something we’d want to be a part of.”

The movie came out on Jan. 31, 2025, and became available on streaming services in April. As of Sept. 16, it has eclipsed the 100,000 purchase and rental mark.
The three organizations benefitting from the donations are the Farmer Angel Network, the Farm Family Wellness Alliance, and the National FFA.
Green and Gold centers around Buck, a fourth generation Wisconsin dairy farmer played by Craig T. Nelson, who played Hayden Fox on the sitcom Coach.
With foreclosure looming and his granddaughter pursuing music instead of farming, Buck and a mortgage lender named Jerry make a wager.
If the Green Bay Packers win the Super Bowl, Buck receives one more year on his loan, interest free. Anything less and Buck signs everything over to Jerry.
The movie does a good job of highlighting farmers, said Demmer, who has seen the film.
“When you think about farming, a lot of our people are good people, and a lot of that translates to farmers,” she said. “Green and Gold honors the hardworking farmers of America, the struggles they go through and how you need a community around you to move forward. And then when you add the Green Back Packers, it’s just so Wisconsin.”
The movie currently has a 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with mixed reviews from critics.
Anyone interested in viewing the movie can see it on multiple platforms including YouTube, Apple TV and Google Play.
