A Valtra T236 reached 54 mph at the Red Bull Ring in Austria
A tractor traded farmland for racetrack during a recent exhibition.
A Valtra T236 outfitted with Nokian Hakkapeliitta TRI tires recently set a record for the fastest tractor lap at the Red Bull Ring, home of Formula One’s Austrian Grand Prix, with a time of 3:36.4 minutes.
“The T Series now holds the official record as the fastest tractor round the Red Bull Ring,” Valtra’s website says.
For context, the fastest Formula One lap recorded at the 2.7-mile (4.3 km) Red Bull Ring is 1:07.924. McLaren driver Oscar Piastri set that record in 2025.
Powering the T236 is an AGCO Power CORE75 engine.
This 7.5-liter six-cylinder engine is rated for 245 horsepower and up to 873 pound-feet of torque.
This combination helped the tractor reach a Red Bull verified speed of 54 mph (87 km/h). The tractor’s street legal speed is around 35 mph (56 km/h).
The tractor also features three driving modes, a SmartTouch Gen2 display, and comes factory ready for PTx FarmENGAGE, Valtra Guide, ISOBUS, and Tractor Implement Management.
And farmers can choose between an AGCO ML 180 CTV or 10-step powershift transmission.
The exercise at the Red Bull Ring occurred in addition to a demonstration alongside Väderstad.
The Väderstad challenge tested if the T Series tractor, paired with a Väderstad Tempo planter, could plant accurately at high speeds.
The results showed a high-speed planting of 25 mph (40 km/h) while maintaining more than 95 percent accuracy.
"The most important takeaway from these challenges is what they demonstrate for farmers. The all-new 6th-generation T Series showed that it can combine speed, precision and intelligent operation across very different tasks,” Matti Tiitinen, vice president of sales and marketing with Valtra, said on the company’s website. “Farmers need machines that adapt quickly, respond predictably and help them make the most of every working hour. These demonstrations show how the technologies behind the T Series work together with advanced implements to deliver exactly that.”
