A farmer is the new interim leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba (PC Manitoba).

Konrad Narth, the MLA for La Vérendrye, will assume this role, as well as Leader of the Official Opposition within the provincial legislature.

“If you live in Manitoba, you deserve an opposition that holds this government to account, and that’s ready to offer you something better,” Narth told reporters on Sept. 29 following a leadership vote.

Agriculture is one of Manitoba’s strongest sectors, he added.

Narth’s selection as interim leader came after former leader Obby Khan stepped down and resigned from caucus on Sept. 28 citing infighting about his leadership.

A multigenerational farmer, he grew up on a family beef farm in Zhoda where he continues to raise cattle and his family.

“As a third-generation farmer, agriculture is a subject that is near and dear to my heart,” Narth wrote in an Oct. 2025 column for The Carillon. “I understand, firsthand, the challenges facing Manitoba’s farmers.”

It was also in October 2025 that Khan named Narth as the opposition ag critic, as well as the critic for business, mining, trade and job creation.

Some of Narth’s work related to ag include:

As of now Narth has no plans to run for the permanent party leadership.

“I’m here to continue moving us forward to find a new leader that will be the next premier of Manitoba,” he told reporters.
