7) Trevor Jones appointed ag minister in Premier Ford’s cabinet

Ontario’s ag community received a new provincial minister in March.

Premier Doug Ford appointed Trevor Jones as the new minister of agriculture, food and agribusiness.

Jones previously served as the associate minister of emergency preparedness and response. And as a parliamentary secretary to the minister of agriculture.

He has a background in law enforcement and within Ontario’s ag industry.

“I served as an OPP officer before transitioning to a leadership role in agribusiness,” he told The Chatham Voice prior to February’s election. “Growing up in a farming and food-processing hub, I developed a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for our community and for Ontario.”
