Trevor Jones, the MPP for Chatham-Kent-Leamington, is the new minister of agriculture, food and agribusiness, the premier announced on March 19.
Jones previously served as the associate minister of emergency preparedness and response. And as a parliamentary secretary to the minister of agriculture.
He has a background in law enforcement and within Ontario’s ag industry.
“I served as an OPP officer before transitioning to a leadership role in agribusiness,” he told The Chatham Voice prior to February’s election. “Growing up in a farming and food-processing hub, I developed a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for our community and for Ontario.”
