As Ontario farmers wrap up a season marked by weather extremes and yield variability, Canada’s two major railways—Canadian National Railway Company (CN Rail) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City Limited (CPKC)—are reporting strong performance in moving corn, soybeans, and grain across the country.
This is based on the latest available data, the Week 12 performance metrics from CN and CPKC (October 19–25, 2025).
Ontario producers, especially those in southwestern regions with strong corn and soybean yields, are benefiting from direct rail access to St. Lawrence River ports and Thunder Bay, which remain critical gateways for export.
