Flooded field

Spring flooding is intensifying across large portions of Canada, placing farms under growing pressure during one of the most important windows of the agricultural year.

From the Prairies to Central Canada and into Atlantic regions, saturated soils, elevated rivers, and damaged rural infrastructure are disrupting planting plans, livestock movement, and day-to-day farm operations.

Soil protection is emerging as a top priority. Entering fields too early can cause deep compaction that reduces yields for multiple seasons.

Agronomists recommend waiting until soils are firm enough to support equipment, even if it pushes planting outside ideal calendar dates.
