Alberta Grains is winding down a cash advance program that’s been around almost a decade.
The organization is ending FarmCash, which provides farmers with interest-free cash advances and low interest rates, by 2027.
“The Board determined that continuing to administer the Advance Payments Program through FarmCash no longer aligns with the long-term strategic priorities and goals of Alberta Grains,” the organization said in an Oct. 15 statement.
Until November 15, 2026, producers with an existing Spring Advance through FarmCash can apply for an additional advance.
Active FarmCash producers will receive communication from Alberta Grains once their files have been assigned to a new administrator.
