In February, police in multiple states issued warnings to farmers that thieves could target their property.
“Farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses are being hit with thefts of heavy equipment, aluminum pipe, commodities, cattle and expensive farm chemicals,” the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said on its website.
And in South Carolina, farmers were out thousands of dollars because of criminal activity.
