In January, Iowa Republican Rep. Ashley Hinston introduced a piece of legislation which proposed moving non-national security agency headquarters out of Washington, D.C. and into communities that reflect those agencies.
Stationing the USDA somewhere like Iowa makes sense, she said.
Sen. Joni Ernst introduced similar legislation in the Senate.
As of December the bill has been referred to the subcommittee on economic development, public buildings, and emergency management.
