The Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame welcomed its first 14 inductees in 1961. They came from five different provinces across Canada.

Bethour was a pioneer breeder of Yorkshire hogs in Canada. He also made large contributions to the bacon hog development in the country. In 1930, he also received an award from the province of Ontario for distinctive services to Canadian ag.
