International Plowing Match names 2023 location

The Municipalities of Amaranth and Grand Valley have been named host of the 2023 IPM.

The Ontario Plowmen’s Association (OPA) has revealed the location of next year’s 2023 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM). Each year, the OPA partners with a local plowing association to organize and host the event.

The IPM celebrates farming’s history with historical displays and demonstrations, showcasing the modern with some of the newest and most advanced plows and agricultural equipment on the market competing.

From September 19 - 23, 2023, the Municipalities of Amaranth and Grand Valley will play host to the event, with farmers’ fields surrounding the Bowling Green and Laurel area transformed into a tented city, RV park, plowing competition venues and parking areas.

“The Headwaters of the Grand” offers outstanding agricultural land and a dynamic group of people who will make the 2023 IPM an outstanding event,” stated Robert MacLean, President of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association.  “We look forward to this opportunity to re-size some of the features that have just grown too large over the years.”

Both local and provincial organizers of the event will meet with the leadership team of the Grand Valley Agricultural Society, the Shelburne Agricultural Society, and the Orangeville Agricultural Society to develop a course of action to work together.

A series of community meetings to discuss the preparations of the 2023 IPM event—as well as a chance for volunteers to become involved—will be August 25, 2022, at the Township of Amaranth Banquet Hall (374028 6th Line, Amaranth0, and on September 1, 2022, at the Grand Valley and District Community Centre Grand River Room (Upper Hall 90 Main Street N, Grand Valley). Both meetings are slated to start at 7:3-PM. All are welcome.

And lest we forget, the 2022 International Plowing Match is taking place in Kemptville, North Grenville, Ontario, this upcoming September 20-24, 2022. This is the event’s 103rd edition.
