New JD tool helps farmers turn data into better decisions
John Deere has unveiled JD, a new artificial intelligence assistant designed to help farmers make better use of their farm data. Built into the John Deere Operations Center platform, JD allows users to ask simple questions and receive insights based on information collected from their fields, equipment, and operations.
The new tool is intended to simplify farm management by helping producers access important information without searching through multiple reports or dashboards. Farmers can use JD to compare fuel usage, evaluate planting performance, review operator efficiency, and identify the best times for harvesting based on historical records.
By turning complex data into clear answers, JD aims to help farmers improve productivity, reduce costs, and support stronger farm profitability. The AI assistant analyzes information gathered over time and delivers practical recommendations that can help guide daily and long-term decisions.
“Farmers have more data available to them than ever before, but the value comes from their ability to use it in the moments that matter,” said Jahmy Hindman, Chief Technology Officer at John Deere. “JD changes the experience from navigating through a sea of data to simply asking it a question. It puts advanced data analysis within reach by enabling farmers to receive answers tailored to their farm and their needs in a matter of seconds.”
Alongside the launch, John Deere highlighted its Farmer Data Commitment, which emphasizes that farmers remain in control of their information. The company states that farm data belongs to farmers, is not sold to third parties, and can only be shared according to user preferences and established agreements.
The commitment also focuses on transparency, allowing producers to choose how their data is shared while ensuring that information is used to create value through improved machine performance and better decision-making tools.
“Farmers receive value from their data when they can use it to make better decisions, and we believe that value should come with control, transparency, and choice,” said Deanna Kovar, President, Worldwide Ag & Turf Division: Production and Precision Ag, Americas and Australia at John Deere.
She added, “Our view is simple: farmers should control their data, clearly understand how it is used, and benefit from the insights it can create. JD and the Farmer Data Commitment are part of the same vision for helping farmers put their data to work on their terms.”
John Deere plans to offer the technology through web and mobile platforms, with future integration into in-cab displays. The company is also exploring opportunities to expand the AI assistant's capabilities to additional industries, including turf, forestry, construction, and roadbuilding.
A limited Early Access Program has opened for selected U.S. agricultural customers. John Deere believes the new AI assistant represents an important step toward making farm data easier to understand and more useful for improving operational performance.
