Live Cattle Commodity Update for the Week Ending May 19, 2017

The week of May 15, 2017 saw the price of live cattle end at 121.05. Compared to last week’s ending price of 121.775 the price of live cattle dropped by 0.6%.

The lowest price point for live cattle during the week occurred on May 16, 2017 when the price was at 118.25.

Between Apr 19, 2017 and May 19, 2017 the price of live cattle rose by 7.8%. At this time last month, prices for live cattle were at 112.275 and have now jumped to 121.05.

Live cattle has also seen an improvement from last year. At this time in 2016, the price was at 105.9. The change in prices from a year ago represents an increase of 14.3%.

On Oct 13, 2016, live cattle had its worst day as far as markets go when it was at 90.

Live cattle’s total volume for the week was 120485. Its worst performing day came on May 17, 2017, when the commodity saw its weekly low of 21625.
