Public invited to attend meeting virtually or in person
The Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced that its regular public meeting will take place on November 17, 2026. The meeting is designed to discuss matters related to Michigan agriculture and rural development while providing opportunities for public participation.
The business session is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be open to all interested individuals. The meeting will be held at the Deborah A. Stabenow Building, Houghton Conference Room, located on the sixth floor south at 525 West Allegan Street in Lansing, Michigan.
To increase public access and engagement, the meeting will also be conducted electronically. People who are unable to attend in person can participate remotely through Microsoft Teams. Virtual attendees may join the meeting by telephone or through an online video conference platform provided by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The meeting is being conducted in accordance with Michigan’s Open Meetings Act, which promotes transparency and public involvement in government decision-making. Community members, agricultural stakeholders, and residents are encouraged to attend and stay informed about important issues affecting the state's agricultural sector.
Individuals who would like to speak during the public comment period may register in advance. Those participating virtually are encouraged to submit their request before the designated deadline. Registrants should provide their contact information and indicate whether they would like to address a specific agenda item.
During the meeting, pre-registered speakers will be given up to three minutes to present their comments. Additional participants wishing to speak will be provided up to two minutes. The public comment period is intended to allow residents and stakeholders to share opinions, concerns, and suggestions with the Commission.
The Commission noted that documents shared during the meeting will be considered public records and may be subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. While public feedback is welcomed, the Commission may not provide immediate responses to comments made during the meeting.
Residents who wish to offer input, ask questions, or discuss matters scheduled for consideration may contact the Commission Assistant through the email address provided by the agency before the meeting date.
The Commission is also committed to ensuring accessibility for all participants. Individuals requiring accommodations for effective participation are encouraged to make arrangements in advance. Services are available for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech impairments.
By offering both in-person and virtual attendance options, the Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development aims to encourage broader public involvement and ensure that agricultural and rural development discussions remain accessible to communities across the state.
