Alberta Grains will debut its Community Impact Awards later this year

An Alberta ag industry group is developing its own award to celebrate farmers who go above and beyond for their communities.

Social media posts on Feb. 21 from Alberta Grains indicate the organization is creating what it calls the Alberta Grains Community Impact Awards.

“Alberta Grains is launching the Community Impact Awards to recognize individuals who strengthen Alberta’s grain industry through leadership, volunteerism, and service,” Harley Groenveld, senior manager of communications and marketing with Alberta Grains, told Farms.com in an email.

Alberta Grains will award three honours.

The Legacy of Leadership Award recognizes a past or present Alberta Grains volunteer who has made a long-lasting contribution to the organization and broader grain industry.

The Future Leader Award celebrates emerging leaders who are actively engaged with the ag community.

And the Delegate Distinction Award celebrates outstanding service and leadership by a current Alberta Grains delegate who shows strong engagement and future governance potential.

Nominations will open in April and run through late June.

Winners will be notified by early September.

Alberta Grains will present the awards in December at the Prairie Cereals Summit in Banff, where the winners will be invited to attend and participate in the conference.
