New IntelliSense Technology Improves Accuracy, Efficiency, and Reduces Chemical Use

New Holland recently unvelied the company’s latest advancement in sprayer technology: IntelliSense sprayer automation.

The system is a new factory-installed option available on the 2026 and newer New Holland Guardian sprayer models and is designed to improve spraying accuracy, efficiency, and input management for modern farmers.

Paul Bruns, Regional Precision Manager for the Upper Plains with New Holland Agriculture, explained to Farms.com how the IntelliSense system uses a centrally mounted camera to monitor fields in real time. The camera scans an area up to 140 feet wide and works with CN spray technology to identify weeds within a field.

The system can detect weeds as small as a golf ball in short stubble even when the sprayer is traveling at speeds of up to 19 miles per hour.

Once weeds are detected, the system automatically activates only the necessary spray nozzles.

In many cases, that means engaging just three to five nozzles to precisely target weed clusters. This targeted approach helps reduce unnecessary chemical use while ensuring effective weed control.

IntelliSense technology also offers a “base plus boost” feature.

With this approach, a uniform base application is applied across the field, but when the system detects weeds, it increases the application rate through specific nozzles. This targeted boost helps ensure that problem plants receive enough product to be effectively controlled.

In addition, the technology can operate in a live variable-rate mode.

When used in standing crops such as corn or wheat, the system evaluates crop health and adjusts product application rates automatically between preset minimum and maximum levels.

This capability allows growers to optimize fungicide or crop protection applications while making more efficient use of inputs.
