Ottawa will provide the organization with $200,000
An ag machinery organization recently received federal support to continue its work.
The Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute (PAMI) will receive $200,000 from the Canadian government.
PAMI designs, develops, and evaluates machinery and equipment to help other companies improve their own performance.
PAMI will use the federal support to acquire “advanced agricultural processing equipment and technologies to support small and medium enterprises as they design, test, and commercialize products and processes in value-added agriculture,” a July 22 press release says.
Past PAMI tests included evaluating ROPS and FOPS protective structures for ag and heavy equipment and using a multi-axial simulation able to test tractor fenders and cabins against regular equipment stresses.
In 2018, for example, PAMI prepared a report for SeedMaster about the Nova Cart and UltraPro II about the equipment’s distribution uniformity and seed damage.
Supporting organizations like PAMI lift the ag industry overall, said Buckley Belanger, the secretary of state for rural development.
“These new investments are about making sure the next generation of producers, processors, and agri-food businesses can keep growing and keep good jobs right here at home,” he said in a statement. “Whether it’s developing new products or reaching new markets, we’re making sure Saskatchewan continues to lead as one of the best places in the world to grow and produce food.”
This is PAMI’s second federal investment in recent months.
In April it received $3 million to create an advanced military engineering and testing facility.
