The crime occurred in the Sask. RM of Lake of the Rivers

Police in Saskatchewan are asking for the public’s help to identify two males involved in grain hopper tampering.

Assiniboia RCMP say the incident occurred at a property in the RM of Lake of the Rivers between Aug. 14 and 15.

Police photos show at least four hoppers with piles of grain spilled underneath.

On Oct. 20 RCMP released video footage of the alleged suspects.

“In the footage one of the males is seen wearing jeans and a grey-coloured shirt. The second male is seen wearing jeans, a green-coloured shirt, and a hat,” an RCMP release says.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police by calling 310-RCMP, or to submit tips anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

If caught and convicted, the suspects could face multiple charges.

These can include trespassing, mischief, and criminal negligence.

In Saskatchewan under The Trespass to Property Act, farm visitors must have verbal, written, electronic, or other kinds of consent from the owner to come onto the property.

The penalty for violating this law can carry a fine up to $5,000 and six months imprisonment. Repeat offenders can see that fine go as high as $25,000.

Landowners can also take civil action against trespassers.
