USDA Promotes Farming with Major Market Event

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will host the Great American Farmers Market on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The event will take place during National Farmers Market Week from August 3rd to August 8th, 2025.

This special event will honor the essential role of agriculture in shaping the nation. The market aims to celebrate farmers, connect them with customers, and showcase the diversity of American farming. The USDA is inviting farmers, ranchers, bakers, fishers, dairy producers, meat processors, beverage makers, and food vendors from all 50 states to join.

“There is no greater celebration of America’s legacy than through American agriculture! Farmers helped found our nation and for centuries have diligently passed down the craft of feeding, fueling, and clothing their fellow patriots. The Great American Farmers Market is a celebration of the almost 250 years since our inception and a chance to honor the heart of our nation: agriculture,” said Secretary Rollins.

The market will also feature live musical performances and public activities to bring rural America to the heart of the capital. The goal is to inspire the next generation of agricultural leaders and to promote fresh, healthy food grown by American farmers.

The USDA has a long history of supporting agriculture, dating back to its founding by President Abraham Lincoln. Known as the “People’s Department,” it continues to serve farmers and rural communities today.

The market's grand opening and ribbon-cutting will be held on August 3rd. For vendor sign-up details and daily event schedules, the USDA encourages interested participants to visit their website.
