Ciller Corn takes place on a family farm

October is synonymous with horror as much as it is with harvest.

With that at top of mind, here are some scary movies with ties to ag to consider watching after a long day in the combine.

The Threshing
This 2026 movie follows young couple Gwyn and Franklin to a regenerative farm in Colorado after Gwyn receives a job there.

The couple “must navigate the commune’s unorthodox—and increasingly ominous—practices, under the watchful eye of their unnervingly intense leader,” a movie summary says.

The movie was shot entirely on a working farm, and director Sean Mannion uses that to his advantage.

“The Threshing really gets under your skin,” Joe Yanick of Yellow Veil Pictures said, according to Screen Daily. “Sean captures the environment so strongly that you can feel and taste the mixture of dirt, sweat, and blood.

Ciller Corn
Iowa farmer Carson wants to leave the farm and move to the city with his girlfriend Lexie in this 2026 film.

His father, Dale, fearing for the farm’s future, conspires with a business partner to keep Carson home.

While at the same time, an experimental crop protection product is poisoning crops and livestock.

The poison eventually reaches Carson and begins to transform him “into a cannibalistic corn cob man, who takes revenge against the father that betrayed him,” a casting call says.

The Monster Within
Garrett inherits his family’s 100-acre farm but isn’t interested in the property or its maintenance.

He comes to discover an ancient creature is buried beneath the property.

The creature becomes his responsibility, and must carry on the tradition of keeping it fed.

“Every family member that the farm gets passed down to has to follow a certain set of rules,” Garett says in the movie trailer.

Werwulf
A farmer in 13th-century England lives with the burden of transforming into a werewolf with every full moon.

After multiple deaths in the community, the king wants all wolves destroyed.

“When a hunting party, charged by the king to cull the land of wolves, arrives and forces our man to join them, he struggles to conceal his transformations, all the while fighting to save his soul and his family’s fate from the evil that lurks within,” the movie synopsis says.
